5 months working in the event industry
After having worked with light as a hobby - programming and controlling lightshows for private parties - In 2024 I finally had the opportunity to immerse myself into the professional side of light engineering and event technology in general.
April to June I worked at BMUsik Berlin, and June to August I was part of the team of eventtechnik GmbH Metzingen.
During this time I learned a lot of things about how work is done in the event industry and many soft- and hardskills needed as an event technician.
I assisted with many interesting events, like this hybrid event at the old public baths in Lichtenberg. But also trade fairs, music events, company parties, public events like formula e and many more.
For various music events I set up truss and lights, PAs, DJ booths and control consoles for light and sound.
Video related projects were also part of my work experience, like setting up LED walls, monitors, cameras and canvases.
In the warehouses of BMU and eventtechnik I inspected equipment, going through function tests to ensure smooth operation on jobs.
I also helped in repair-work like switching out gobos of movinglights.
My final project: Assisiting in the planning, disposition, installation and programming and controlling the light for a rave at the Club Thing e.v. Metzingen. It was very enlightening going through every step of an event and I had so much fun programming and running the show on the Grand MA 3 console.
